My standard session length for individual and couples therapy is 50 minutes. 50 minutes is a industry wide standard, but does not always work, especially for couples or groups where there is a lot more ground to cover. I am definitely open to longer session lengths and often recommend such for couples or groups.
I am not currently on any insurance panel and I do not bill any insurance company directly. Some insurance companies do reimburse for therapy out of network. Unfortunately, you will need to call and ask your provider if they would reimburse you, as there is no way I can keep track of all the different plans and policies of every carrier. What you will need to ask is: 1) Do they cover out of network therapy? 2) Do they cover services provided by an LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist)? and if you are wanting to do couples counseling, 3) Do they cover couples counseling?
If they say yes to all those questions, then you will need to pay out of pocket each session, and during our first session of each month I will provide a “Superbill” (a.k.a.: a receipt), and you would then need to submit that to your provider in order to get reimbursed.
My fee is $200 per 50 minutes, and I prorate that fee for longer sessions. I offer a sliding scale based on availability and need.
If you need to cancel a session, please remember to do so 48 hours before your session start time to avoid being charged for the full fee of our scheduled time.
